Prof. Monstadt holds the Chair of Governance of Urban Transitions at Utrecht University. He contributes his international research expertise on the urban transition and governance of energy infrastructures and on urban infrastructures in East Africa to the project. [Read more]

Dr. Kei Otsuki – Co-Investigator

Dr. Otsuki is an assistant professor of International Development Studies at Utrecht University, specialized in development sociology and sustainability research. She contributes her expertise on critical approaches to international sustainable development and land-infrastructure relationship in the global South, including East Africa, to the project. [Read more]

Dr. Shaun Smith – Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr. Smith conducts his PhD research within the project at Utrecht University. He conducted his PhD research on electricity access in urban Kenya as well as postdoctoral studies on everyday urban energy access in Maputo. He is also part of the ‘Transforming Infrastructures for Sustainable Cities’ research hub at Utrecht University. [Read more]

Mathias Koepke – PhD Researcher

Mathias Koepke conducts his PhD research within the project at Utrecht University. He has a background in energy engineering and sustainable development, with a long track record of working on matters of energy access and provision in the global South. [Read more]

Joyce Eledi Kuusaana MSc – PhD Researcher

Joyce Angnayeli Eledi Kuusaana is a PhD candidate of a joint doctoral program between Utrecht University, the Netherlands and TU Darmstadt, Germany. Joyce is a professional Architect with BSc. Architecture and PG. Dip. Architecture from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. She also holds an MSc. in Infrastructure Planning from the University of Stuttgart, Germany. [Read more]

Dr. Eléusio Viegas Filipe – Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr. Filipe is a lecturer and researcher at the History department at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane in Mozambique. He conducts his PostDoc research at within the project.
